Woven patches use thinner threads woven together, similar to fabric or a label, which allows for much higher resolution and detail. They are the ideal choice when your logo contains small fine lettering, intricate details, or complex shading that embroidery thread (which is thicker) cannot accurately reproduce. For bold logos and traditional textured look, embroidery is the better choice.
Woven patches are typically cut into custom shapes and have a merrowed or hot-cut border for durability, designed to be visibly displayed on the outside of a garment. Woven labels are usually folded and sewn into the seam or neck of a garment for internal branding. Both are made with the same weaving technique but serve different purposes. We produce both — tell us which you need during the quote.
The most common border types are hot-cut (clean laser-sealed edges for irregular and custom shapes) and merrowed (a tightly stitched edge for standard shapes like circles, squares, and rectangles, offering a traditional patch look). Hot-cut is more flexible for unusual shapes; merrowed has a more traditional patch aesthetic.
Woven patches accept all 4 standard backings: hook-side Velcro (for tactical gear), sew-on (most durable for daily wear), iron-on (industrial heat-seal adhesive for quick application), and adhesive (peel-and-stick for short-term or temporary use). Unlike PVC patches, woven patches bond well with all four — the woven fabric accepts adhesives properly.
