Embroidery Digitizing — What You Get

Manual Hand-Digitizing — Not Auto-Trace

We hand-digitize every design. No auto-trace shortcuts, no software-only conversions. Every stitch path, density adjustment, and underlay decision is made manually by experienced punchers — which is why our files run cleanly on production without thread breaks, puckering, or density issues.

  • Manual stitch path optimization
  • Custom underlay structure for fabric type
  • Density tuning for the embroidery technique (flat, 3D puff, applique)
  • Test-sewn on real machines before delivery
  • Production-ready output

The difference shows the moment your design hits a real machine. Auto-traced files often need re-digitizing on production. Ours don't.

Specialty Digitizing for Every Placement

Different placements need different digitizing approaches. A 3-inch left chest logo and a 12-inch jacket back have completely different requirements for stitch density, underlay, and pathing. We adjust digitizing technique to match what the placement actually needs.

  • Left chest (under 5 inches): $10 per design
  • Jacket back, full chest (over 5 inches): $18 per design
  • Hat and cap digitizing — optimized for curved surfaces and 3D puff
  • Sleeve, collar, and small lettering specialty digitizing
  • Multi-position designs for uniform packages

Tell us where the design will be embroidered and we'll digitize it for that specific placement — not a generic catch-all file.

Specialized Embroidery Techniques

Beyond standard flat embroidery, we digitize for every common embroidery technique. Each one has unique digitizing requirements — different stitch types, underlay structures, and density calculations.

  • Flat embroidery — the standard technique for most logos and lettering
  • 3D puff embroidery — see our dedicated puff digitizing service
  • Chenille embroidery — see our dedicated chenille digitizing service
  • Applique embroidery — fabric-patch digitizing for textured designs
  • Towel and terry cloth — specialized digitizing for high-pile fabrics

Not sure which technique fits your project? Send us the artwork and intended garment — we'll recommend the right approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is embroidery digitizing?

Embroidery digitizing is the process of converting your logo, lettering, or design into a machine-readable file containing stitch commands. An embroidery machine cannot read pixel-based images — it needs a digital file specifying every stitch, color change, and trim. Our digitizers manually create these files so your design embroiders cleanly on real fabric.

Do you produce finished embroidered apparel?

We provide digitizing files for embroidery — these are the files your own embroidery machine (or your contractor's machine) uses to produce embroidered apparel. We do not produce finished embroidered apparel directly through this service. However, we do manufacture finished products in two specific categories: custom patches (5 materials) and embroidered hats and beanies (24-piece minimum).

What machine formats do you support?

We deliver in DST, PES, EXP, EMB, JEF, HUS, VP3, and XXX formats — compatible with Tajima, Brother, Janome, Bernina, Melco, Barudan, Ricoma, and Happy machines. If you need a less common format, request it during your quote.

What artwork formats do you accept?

JPG, PNG, PDF, AI, EPS, SVG, and CDR. Vector files give the cleanest result. If you only have a low-resolution photo, we can still work with it — but we may suggest converting to vector first via our vector art service.

How long does digitizing take?

Standard designs (under 5 inches): 3-5 hours. Larger or complex designs: 4-6 hours. We run 24/7 with night-shift coverage so US and UK clients receive files during their business day. No rush fees on standard turnaround.

How much does digitizing cost?

$10 per design for designs under 5 inches (most logos, hat embroidery, left chest). $18 per design for designs over 5 inches (jacket back, large placements). Monthly subscription plans starting at $200/month for 30 designs are available for high-volume customers — see monthly plans.

Will the file work on my specific machine?

Yes. Files are tested on real machines before delivery. Tell us your machine brand/model during your quote and we'll deliver in the optimal format for it. If a file ever doesn't run cleanly on your setup, we re-digitize for free.

Do you offer revisions if something needs to change?

Free unlimited revisions on every order. This includes fixing thread breaks, adjusting density, changing colors, or correcting stitch paths. Significant design changes (adding new elements, resizing beyond 20%) are treated as new orders, but minor edits are always free.
