Debossed (Stamped) Patches
A classic, subtle look achieved by using heat and pressure to stamp the design *into* the leather. Creates a permanent, professional indent that lasts forever.
Laser Engraving
The fastest and most common method. The laser burns the top layer of the material, revealing a contrasting darker layer beneath for high-visibility contrast.
Hot Stamping / Color Fill
A variation of debossing where a colored foil or paint is applied into the indented area, allowing you to add a single vibrant color to your design.
Material Options: Genuine Leather vs. Faux Leather
Select the material that best matches your budget and ethical requirements.
Genuine Leather
The premium choice for unmatched quality, texture, and natural aging.
- Natural texture and unique aging (Patina).
- Luxurious look and feel.
- Slightly higher cost and less water resistant.
- Available in natural shades (Tan, Brown, Black).
Faux Leather (Vegan Leather)
A synthetic, environmentally conscious alternative with consistency and great durability.
- Consistent color and texture across batches.
- Excellent water resistance and easy to clean.
- More budget-friendly and fully synthetic.
- Available in a wider range of bright and standard colors.
Finishing Options: Edge & Backing
Clean Cut Edge (Standard)
The most common finish. The patch is cut to the exact shape of your design using a die or laser for a crisp, professional border.
Stitch Groove Border
We add a pre-punched groove or line around the perimeter, making it effortless for you or your factory to sew the patch perfectly onto the garment.
Sew-On or Adhesive Backing
Leather patches are best attached via Sew-On or using a high-tack, heat-activated adhesive applied for placement before final perimeter stitching.
Leather Patches FAQ
Genuine leather is a premium material that offers natural variation, scent, and unique aging properties (patina). Faux leather (often called PU or vegan leather) is synthetic, providing consistent color, excellent water resistance, and a cost-effective alternative. Both can be customized via laser engraving or debossing.
We offer three main methods: 1) Laser Engraving (etching the surface to reveal a darker layer beneath), 2) Debossing (stamping the logo into the leather surface for a permanent indent), and 3) Hot Stamping (using heat and pressure, sometimes with foil, to create a colored or deep imprint).
Due to the thickness and the nature of the leather material, we highly recommend Sew-On or Heat-Activated Adhesive that is sewn on the perimeter. Standard heat-seal iron-on backing is generally not reliable for leather patches and is discouraged for high-wear items like hats or denim.
For the cleanest results in both engraving and debossing, we require vector-based artwork (AI, EPS, or PDF). Since leather patches cannot handle the fine detail of woven or embroidered patches, large, bold designs with clear lines work best.
