Two Ways to Order DTF

Pick the option that matches your operation. If you have a heat press and want to apply transfers yourself, order DTF gang sheets. If you need ready-to-ship finished apparel, we handle blank sourcing, application, and fulfillment.

Option 1: DTF Transfer Sheets

Custom DTF transfers gang-printed on PET film, ready to heat-press onto your own apparel. Common with screen-print shops, embroidery decorators, and small apparel brands with their own application equipment.

⏱ 5-7 working days production + shipping

  • Full-color photographic detail (no color count limits)
  • White underbase included for dark garment compatibility
  • Gang-printed for cost-efficient multi-design orders
  • Pre-cut to design outlines, ready to peel and press
  • Application instructions included
  • Quote-based pricing — by sheet size and quantity

Best if: you have a heat press and want to apply transfers to your own apparel inventory.

How DTF Production Works

The DTF Process

  1. Digital film printing: Design printed on PET film with textile inks plus white underbase
  2. Hot-melt powder: Adhesive powder applied to wet ink while it's still tacky
  3. Curing: Film cured in a dedicated curing oven to bond powder and ink
  4. Pre-cutting: Transfers cut around design outlines for clean peel-and-press
  5. Application: Heat-pressed onto apparel at 320°F / 8-12 seconds (specifics vary)

Where DTF Performs Best

DTF works on most apparel substrates:

  • Cotton — t-shirts, hoodies, polos, denim
  • Polyester — athletic wear, performance fabrics
  • Cotton-poly blends — most common apparel base
  • Canvas — bags, aprons, tote bags
  • Fleece — hoodies, sweatshirts
  • Dark and light garments equally

DTF Transfers FAQs

What is DTF and how does it differ from screen printing or vinyl?

DTF (Direct-to-Film) is a digital printing technique where designs are printed onto a special PET film with textile inks plus a hot-melt adhesive powder. The cured film becomes a transfer that's heat-pressed onto apparel. Unlike screen printing, DTF requires no screens and works at any quantity from a single shirt to thousands. Unlike vinyl, DTF reproduces full-color photographic detail and gradients without per-color charges.

Do you offer DTF transfers only, or finished apparel?

Both. DTF transfer sheets shipped ready-to-press for decorators with their own heat presses. Finished DTF-printed apparel where we source blanks, apply transfers, and ship finished products (50-piece minimum). We do not currently accept customer-supplied blank apparel for DTF application — only the two options above.

What's the minimum order?

Transfers-only: quote-based — minimum varies by sheet size and design count. Single-sheet orders may be possible for established customers. Finished apparel: 50 pieces per design minimum. Custom-quote pricing for both based on quantity, design complexity, and apparel choice.

How long does production take?

Transfers-only: 5-7 working days from order approval to shipped sheets. Finished apparel: 15-21 working days from order approval to shipped products — this includes blank sourcing time, which adds 5-10 days vs. transfers-only. Add 5-10 business days for international shipping.

What apparel can DTF be applied to?

DTF works on most fabrics: cotton, polyester, cotton-poly blends, denim, canvas, fleece, and leather. It performs equally well on dark and light garments — the white ink underbase ensures color vibrancy on any color base. Common applications: t-shirts, hoodies, polo shirts, jackets, hats, bags, jerseys, and corporate uniforms.

How durable is DTF?

Properly applied DTF transfers withstand 40-60 wash cycles before noticeable fading or cracking — comparable to or better than screen printing on cotton. Wash inside-out in cold water with mild detergent. Avoid bleach and harsh dryers. Long-term durability depends on proper press temperature (typically 320°F / 160°C), time (8-12 seconds), pressure (medium-firm), and post-press cooling before removing the transfer carrier.

What artwork format do you need?

PNG with transparent background is the standard for DTF. We also accept AI, EPS, SVG, PDF, and high-resolution TIFF/JPG (300 DPI minimum at intended print size). For best results, your design should be at the actual print size — scaling up a small file introduces artifacts. We can prep artwork from low-resolution sources for an additional fee, or you can use our vector art or high-resolution image services first.

Can DTF reproduce small fine details?

DTF handles fine detail well — generally cleaner than screen printing for small text and intricate linework. Practical minimum: text at 6pt or 0.08" line thickness reproduces cleanly. Anything smaller becomes risky depending on your design and chosen apparel. We'll let you know during the quote if your design has elements that may not translate cleanly.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship DTF transfers and finished apparel to the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and most of Europe. Shipping costs and timeframes are calculated based on your destination and order weight, included in your final quote. Tracking provided on every order.
