How Much Does Embroidery Digitizing Cost?

$10 per design under 5 inches, $18 over — with free edits and free rush built in. No quote form required to find out.

If you've searched "how much does embroidery digitizing cost" and landed on page after page of "request a quote" forms, you already know the problem: almost nobody in this industry publishes real numbers. We do.

The short answer

Embroidery digitizing costs $10 per design for anything under 5 inches, and $18 per design for anything over 5 inches. That's it — no setup fee, no "it depends" phone call required. Turnaround is 3-5 hours, and if the file doesn't stitch the way you expected, edits are free and so is rush service. There's no separate charge to get it back to you faster.

What actually affects digitizing cost

Most digitizers who hide pricing behind a quote form aren't hiding complexity — they're pricing based on how much they think you'll pay. Real digitizing cost comes down to a short list of factors:

  • Design size — this is the main driver of our own pricing tiers (under 5" vs. over 5").
  • Stitch count and density — a dense, highly detailed logo takes longer to digitize cleanly than a simple wordmark, even at the same physical size.
  • Fabric and placement — a design going on a stretchy knit or a curved cap panel needs different underlay and push-pull compensation than a flat jacket back, which affects digitizing time, not usually price at a flat-rate shop.
  • File format requirements — needing the same design output in DST, PES, EMB, EXP, JEF, HUS, VP3, and XXX doesn't cost more here, but at shops that charge per format, it can.

Per-design vs. per-stitch pricing

There are two common pricing models in this industry: flat per-design pricing (what we use) and per-stitch pricing, where cost scales with stitch count. Per-stitch pricing can look cheap on a simple logo and expensive fast on a dense one — see our full breakdown in "Per-Design vs. Per-Stitch Digitizing Pricing" for the math.

What's actually free (and why that matters)

Two things that are commonly hidden fees elsewhere are built into our price at no extra charge:

  • Edits and revisions — if the first version isn't right, we fix it. No revision cap, no re-digitizing fee.
  • Rush turnaround — our standard turnaround is already 3-5 hours, and if you need it faster, we don't charge extra to prioritize it.

Read the full list of fees to watch for at other digitizers (and what we don't charge for) in "Hidden Digitizing Fees: Setup, Rush, Resizing."

When a monthly plan is cheaper than pay-per-design

If you're ordering more than a handful of designs a month, per-design pricing stops being the cheapest option. Our monthly plans work like this:

PlanPriceDesigns includedEffective cost/designSavings vs. pay-per-design
Silver$200/mo30$6.67Up to ~33% off the $10 rate
Gold$300/mo50$6.00Up to ~40% off
Platinum$550/mo100$5.50Up to ~45% off

If you're a brand or agency ordering digitizing regularly — for a rotating product line, seasonal drops, or multiple client accounts — the math almost always favors a plan once you're past roughly 20 designs a month.

How Stitch Official's pricing compares to the industry

Most competitors quote digitizing on request, which usually means pricing varies by customer, order size, or how badly you need it. We publish flat rates because we think you should be able to budget a project before you talk to anyone. If a competitor's quote comes back higher than $18 for a standard logo, ask what's included — often it's a rush fee, a revision fee, or a format fee stacked on top of a lower base price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is digitizing priced per design or per stitch?

At Stitch Official, pricing is per design, not per stitch: $10 under 5 inches, $18 over 5 inches, regardless of stitch density.

Does digitizing cost more for complex logos?

No — our pricing is based on design size, not complexity. A highly detailed logo under 5 inches is still $10.

Are revisions included in the price?

Yes. Edits and revisions are free, with an approval-based workflow until you're satisfied with the file.

What's the difference between digitizing and vector conversion pricing?

Digitizing (for embroidery machines) starts at $10; vector art conversion (for screen printing and apparel design) starts at $12 for color separation and $15 for simple vector conversion. They're priced separately because they're different services.
